সিরাজগঞ্জের উল্লাপাড়া উপজেলায় আসন্ন উল্লাপাড়া পৌরসভা নির্বাচনে, দলমত নির্বিশেষে সকলের আস্থাভাজন, বিশিষ্ট সমাজসেবক, যুব সমাজের অহংকার, উল্লাপাড়া মাছ ব্যবসায়ীর সভাপতি মোঃ রফিকুল ইসলাম ঠান্ডু কে ৭ নং ওয়ার্ড এর কাউন্সিলর হিসেবে দেখতে চায় অত্র এলাকার সাধরণ জনগন৷ আসন্ন উল্লাপাড়া পৌরসভা নিবাচনকে সামনে রেখে ৭ নং ওয়ার্ডে এই নির্বাচনকে সামনে নিয়ে এলাকার মানুষের ভিতরে বিভিন্ন কথা আলাপ-আলোচনা বিরাজ করতেছে। ভোটারদের মধ্যে এক প্রবল আমেজ উদ্দীপনা সৃষ্টি হয়েছে৷ ইতিমধ্যে প্রার্থীগণ যে যার মত মাঠ গোছানোর প্রচেষ্টায় নেমে পড়েছে, তারই ধারাবাহিকতায় অত্র পৌরসভার নির্বাচনে ৭ নং ওয়ার্ড কমিশনার পদপ্রার্থী পদে মোঃ রফিকুল ইসলাম ঠান্ডু নির্বাচনে অংশগ্রহণের জন্য মাঠ পর্যায়ে কাজ শুরু করে দিয়েছে৷
প্রচারণার প্রথম ধাপে সোস্যাল মিডিয়া ফেসবুক ও এলাকায় আগাম শুভেচ্ছা দিয়ে প্রচারণা চালাচ্ছে৷ইতিমধ্যে তিনি সাধারণ মানুষের মুখে বিভিন্ন মোড়ে মোড়ে চা এর দোকানে পাড়া মহল্লায় নানা গুঞ্জন শোনা যাচ্ছে। এছাড়াও অনেকেই মনে করেন যে মোঃ রফিকুল ইসলাম ঠান্ডু এলাকার দায়িত্ব নিলে জনসাধারণের সেবায় নিয়োজিত থাকবে বলে জনগণ আশ্বাস পাচ্ছে৷মোঃ রফিুকল ইসলাম ঠান্ডু ৭ নং ওয়ার্ডবাসীর উদ্দেশ্যে তিনি বলেন, আমার সততা, স্বচ্ছতা ও আন্তরিকতা দিয়ে জনসেবা করতে চাই। অঙ্গিকার করছি, এবারে যদি এই ওয়ার্ডে কাউন্সিলর নির্বাচিত হতে পারি তাহলে এই ওয়ার্ডে মাদকমুক্ত,রাস্তা ঘাটের সমস্যা, পানি নিস্কাশনের সমস্যা ও আমার নির্বাচনী ৭নং ওয়ার্ডকে উল্লাপাড়া পৌরসভার মধ্যে একটি মডেল ওয়ার্ডে পরিনত করব ইনশাআল্লাহ।
