A night watchman of a secondary school has died after being hit by a truck in Jessore’s Abhaynagar Nawapara. The accident took place at Nawapara Nurbagh junction of Jessore-Khulna highway at around 12.45 pm on Saturday. At that time, with the help of the local people, the police were able to seize the deadly truck. According to Highway Police, the deceased was identified as Mohammad Hadiuzzaman Sardar, 42. The deceased has been identified as Abul Kashem Sardar of Khedaipur village in Khanpur union of Manirampur in Jessore.

According to sources, he used to work as a night watchman at Chilumpur Secondary Girls’ School in the same union. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Nawapara Highway Police Station Shahabuddin Chowdhury confirmed the matter and said that Abul Kashem Sardar, the father of the deceased, had left home this morning with his sick son Hadiuzzaman Sardar to go to Khulna for treatment. Hadiuzzaman was killed on the spot when a Jessore-bound truck hit him while he was crossing the highway near the Nurbagh junction in Nawapara Bazar at around 1:15 pm today, said the OC in charge of the highway.

Police later said they had seized the deadly truck. Meanwhile, according to the family sources of the deceased, burial will be completed in their family graveyard except Esha today.
