“আমরা সমাজের অর্ধাঙ্গ, আমরা পড়িয়া থাকিলে, সমাজ উঠিবে কিরুপে” এই প্রতিপাদ্যের আলোকে বেগম রোকেয়া দিবস উপলক্ষে ‘আন্তর্জাতিক নারী নির্যাতন প্রতিরোধ পক্ষ এবং জয়িতা অন্বেষণে বাংলাদেশ’ কর্মসূচির অংশ হিসেবে আজ ৯ ডিসেম্বর বুধবার বিকেলে উপজেলা পরিষদ মিলনায়ত-১ এ আলোচনা সভা ও স্থানীয় পাঁচজন নারীকে ভিন্ন ভিন্ন ক্যাটাগরিতে সম্মানতা ক্রেষ্ট এবং সনদপত্র প্রদান করা হয়েছে। উপজেলা মহিলা বিষয়ক অধিদপ্তরের আয়োজনে এবং উপজেলা প্রশাসনের সহযোগিতায় অনুষ্ঠিত আলোচনা সভায় সভাপতিত্ব করেন উপজেলা নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা মো: সৈকত ইসলাম। স্বাগতিক বক্তব্য দেন উপজেলা মহিলা বিষয়ক কর্মকর্তা মো: আফছার আলী মন্ডল।
আমন্ত্রিত অতিথিদের মধ্যে বক্তব্য দেন- উপজেলা ভাইস-চেয়ারম্যান মো: ইসাহক আলী, উপজেলা মহিলা ভাইস চেয়ারম্যান প্রভাষক ফিরোজা পারভীন, চাটমোহর ব্যবসায়ী সমিতির সভাপতি কে. এম. বেলাল হোসেন স্বপন, দৈনিক আমাদের বড়াল পত্রিকা সম্পাদক হেলালুর রহমান জুয়েল, নার্গিস পারভীন প্রমূখ। আলোচনায় পরিবারের অর্থনৈতিক উন্নয়নে পুরুষের পাশাপাশি নারীরাও এগিয়ে আসছেন। সরকার নারী সমাজের কল্যাণে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা অব্যহত রেখেছে।
এছাড়াও বর্তমানে চাটমোহরে চুমকি-পুঁতির কাজ, মোস্তালীপুরে নারী ভিত্তিক পরচুলা কারখানা, মহেষপুর গ্রামের নারীদের তৈরি তালপাখা, মাছধরার খৈলসুনি তৈরি, টেইলারিং সেন্টার, নকশি কাঁথা এমন কি কৃষিকাজ নারীদের অংশ গ্রহণের বিষয়টিও আলোচনায় উঠে আসে। আলোচনা পর্ব শেষে পর্যায়ক্রমে এবছরের পাঁচজন জয়িতা’র হাতে ক্রেষ্ট ও সনদপত্র তুল দিয়ে সম্মাননা প্রদান করা হয়। সার্বিক অনুষ্ঠান ঘোষণায় ছিলেন উপজেলা রিসোর্স কেন্দ্রের সহকারি ইন্সট্যাক্টর কল্যাণ কুমার সরকার।
